Jewish Quarter Kazimierz & Schindler's Factory & Ghetto Private Guided Tour

4 hours and 30 minutes

Moderate

Take a fascinating tour in the footsteps of Jewish culture and history in Krakow with an experienced local private guide

Start your guided walk through the streets of Kazimierz from its heart - Szeroka Street with a view of one of the synagogues. Find out who and when founded this place, which eventually became a stopover for a large number of Jewish settlers and was shaped by them for centuries, until World War II, which influenced the fate of the entire city, and this place in particular. There is so much to see in Kazimierz. See how history mixes with the present - next to iconic places such as the Old Synagogue, the ritual baths and the houses of former Jewish families, retro-style restaurants and cafes have been established. Walk past the active Remuh Synagogue with its cemetery, learn about rituals and customs in everyday life (trade, cuisine) and after death, as well as about relations with Polish neighbors and why Judaism and Christianity were so intertwined in the Jewish district. Together with your guide, find various signs and symbols hidden even in the architecture of buildings to understand what the real Kazimierz is like. Continue your journey into the world of Jewish heritage by visiting the permanent exhibition at the historic site. The Schindler Factory Museum tells the story of all the tragedy of World War II in an individual and collective dimension. It also presents the everyday life of occupied Krakow, recorded in ordinary objects, photographs, newspapers, personal and official documents. Thanks to artifacts and multimedia, each visitor can travel back in time for a moment and directly touch history and feel the emotions of the inhabitants of the wartime city. So, with your guide, wander through Krakow: visit a photographer and a tailor, an authentic photo-artist, get on a tram through the windows of which you can see a film of the city's life, go through the tight labyrinth of the ghetto with a Jewish apartment located there, and then find yourself together with its inhabitants in the concentration camp. But before the camp - let me take you to the authentic place where the ghetto in Krakow existed. A fragment of the wall and the pharmacy on the corner are silent witnesses of that time. And the memory of the people who passed away has been enchanted in chairs, creating an eloquent monument on the square..
